The Holy Spirit of My Uncle's Cojones, a novel by Marcos McPeek Villatoro

Audio Book: The Holy Spirit of My Uncle’s Cojones, Part 1

In the first pages of the novel, we meet Antonio “Tony” McCaugh Villalobos, an Appalachian-Salvadoran writer living in Knoxville, Tennessee, and far from his Salvadoran roots.

He’s just published his first book, a literary novel, which means he didn’t get any money for it. He’s trying to write his next novel, but has writer’s block. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that he’s a cabrón, which is Spanish for “cuckhold.” His girlfriend, Julie, is having a good old time with a young stud named Bill, in Tony’s apartment, while Tony’s away.

Tony gets the call that his Uncle Jack has died, of natural causes, which shocks the shit out of everybody in the family. They figured some cholo would have knifed him, or an ex-girlfriend who’d come after him with a shotgun. But no, he died…naturally.

Tony decides to go to the funeral. And that’s when all the fun begins….
