TWB Episode 2: Writing and the Need for Solitude

To be a writer, you need to be a little selfish. In order to create literary art, it’s necessary to steal away large chunks of time to be alone, with no distractions. No phone, email, social media. Don’t talk to your spouse, ignore your kids, get to your desk and stay alone, for hours.

This is difficult to do these days. We are distracted, all the time. Some prefer to remain distracted, rather than look inward. Not a writer. A writer needs solitude to get her work done. Bottom line, she’s not afraid to be alone.
